Here a short post on a 2-day course that I took last year in June, just after the COVID restrictions started to relax. The World Sailing Offshore Personal Survival course is kind of the gold standard when it comes to survival training at sea and is a key prerequisite for sailors competing in offshore events as the Minitransat. Even if you do not intend to get into offshore regattas, this training is also a very valuable experience for cruisers who intend to undertake longer trips away from the coastal areas. The course touches upon on a vast number of subjects (practical and theoretical) such as the handling of safety equipment, prevention and recovery, search and rescue organisation and methods, practical fire precautions and fire fighting, or providing first aid assistance adapted to the circumstances that you may encounter on open waters. Here a list of accredited centers in France.
